1. Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon
Location: South Dublin & North Dublin, Ireland
Salary: From €220,000 per year + Attractive Bonus
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Work Type: In-person
Schedule: Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work occasional Saturdays where required

To support our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon to join our multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated specialist looking to contribute to a dynamic service and provide outstanding care to a diverse patient base.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will deliver expert clinical and surgical care across a broad range of ophthalmic specialties. You will work within a supportive team that includes Consultant Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, Eye Technicians, Nurses, and Administrative staff, all committed to excellence in patient outcomes and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist expertise across general Ophthalmology, including cataract surgery, glaucoma, retinal conditions, and ocular laser treatments (YAG and argon).
- Perform intravitreal injections, ocular side-room procedures, and a range of routine ophthalmic interventions.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of the clinical service.
- Manage both routine and complex ophthalmic cases, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in clinical governance, professional development, teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain high standards of patient communication, documentation, and clinical practice in line with best-in-class guidelines.
Requirements
- Completion of Specialist Registrar training in Ophthalmology or equivalent recognized experience.
- Registration, or eligibility for registration, on the Specialist Register (Division of Ophthalmology) with the Irish Medical Council.
- FRCSI (Ophth) or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in recognized ophthalmic posts within a hospital setting.
- Demonstrated competence in:
- Cataract surgery
- Medical retina and intravitreal injections
- Glaucoma management
- Ocular laser procedures (YAG and argon)
