2025- The Year in Review

As we look back on 2025, Progressive Vision is proud to reflect on a year defined by expansion, innovation, and a continued commitment to delivering outstanding eye care to communities across Dublin and beyond. From opening new services to enhancing our specialist care pathways, this year marked some of our most significant milestones since Progressive Vision first began in 2010.

Below are our standout moments of 2025—and how they are shaping the future of eye care in Ireland.

Official Launch of Progressive Vision Swords – March 2025

One of the year’s biggest highlights was the official launch of our state-of-the-art Swords clinic in March. Although patient care began in late 2024, the formal opening celebrated the full expansion of services to North Dublin, Meath, Louth, and surrounding counties.
Our Swords clinic features:
• A dedicated office-based cataract surgery suite, providing a stress-free alternative to hospital surgery
• Full diagnostic and treatment facilities for retinal, glaucoma, corneal, oculoplatics and general ophthalmology conditions
• A specialist paediatric service with a child-friendly, family-focused environment
• A modern, welcoming clinic centered around comfort, accessibility, and efficiency
The Swords opening has allowed us to reduce waiting times, increase patient choice, and extend our unique patient-focused model of care to even more families.

 Launch of Our Oculoplastics Service

Another major advancement this year was the introduction of our Oculoplastics service, expanding the depth of specialist care available across both clinics.
This new service offers expert treatment for conditions affecting the eyelids, tear ducts, and the orbit, including:
• Eyelid cysts and lesions
• Droopy eyelids (ptosis)
• Ectropion and entropion
• Tear duct obstruction and watery eye
• Skin cancer excisions
• Postoperative and reconstructive eyelid surgery
Bringing oculoplastics to Progressive Vision means patients now have direct access to specialist expertise in a safe, convenient clinic setting—without the need for hospital referrals or long waits.

Office-Based Cataract Surgery Growth in Swords

Our innovative office-based cataract surgery (OBS) suite continued to expand, offering:
• No fasting
• No IV sedation
• Shorter visit times (typically 1.5–2 hours)
• CHKS- accredited safety standards
• A calmer, more comfortable patient experience

Patient feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many commenting on the reduced stress and faster recovery.

Improved Access and Reduced Waiting Times

With our Swords clinic now offering a complete cataract pathway—from assessment to postoperative care—we’ve significantly improved appointment availability for insured patients and self-paying individuals.

Leading Technology for Precision Vision with IOLs (intro ocular lenses)

This year we continued to invest in advanced diagnostics and surgical equipment, ensuring patients receive world-class cataract care with personalised IOL (lens implant) options tailored to their lifestyle needs.

Expanding Our Team and Patient Support Pathways

2025 also marked continued growth across our clinical and administrative teams. With more consultants, optometrists, technicians, and patient-care staff joining both clinics, we strengthened our capacity to deliver high-quality, compassionate care.

A Year of Impact

Across Sandyford and Swords, we treated thousands of patients for conditions including:
• Cataracts
• Dry eye disease
• Macular degeneration (including Valeda PBM therapy)
• Glaucoma
• Diabetic eye disease
• Paediatric ophthalmology needs
• Eyelid and oculoplastic conditions
We are incredibly grateful to every patient and family who entrusted us with their care this year.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Progressive Vision will continue to expand services, introduce new technologies, and enhance the patient experience. Our mission remains clear:
to deliver exceptional, kind, patient-centered eye care—with the highest clinical standards—here in our community.

Wishing you and your family a very Happy Christmas and every good wish for the coming year!
